If you've ever been to a supermarket in Japan, you know that their ready-to-eat food sections are on an entirely different level. Forget everything you know about standard grocery store sushi back home! In our latest adventure, we took a stroll through the seafood and sushi counter at an AEON Style supermarket, and let me tell you, it is an absolute seafood lover's paradise.
Right from the moment you walk up to the counter, you can see the dedication to freshness. The setup is immaculate, with skilled workers slicing beautiful, ruby-red tuna and preparing fish right before your eyes. The shelves are absolutely stocked with every kind of sashimi, nigiri, and maki roll you could ever want, all beautifully packaged and glowing under the display lights.
But the real star of the show was the premium nigiri platter we picked up. Just take a look at the photo we snapped.
For only 1580 yen (which is a steal for this quality!), you get a stunning assortment of high-end nigiri. We're talking thick cuts of fresh salmon, beautifully marbled tuna, sweet shrimp, and even rich uni (sea urchin) and ikura (salmon roe) packed into crisp nori. The fish-to-rice ratio is perfect, and the sheer quality looks like something you'd be served at a high-end restaurant, not something you casually pick up in a plastic container during your grocery run!
