Chasing Dreams Under the Wings of Legends: A Day at NAS Jax

John had baseball practice at NOL today. If you don't know Navy Ortega Lakeshore Little League, it's been running at NAS Jacksonville for over 60 years — one of those base institutions that just keeps going because it matters.
We pulled in and a Blue Angels jet was just sitting there on display near the gate. John barely blinked at it. I stood there for probably longer than I should have.
He's deep in All-Star prep right now — 12U tournament is coming up and the kid is locked in. Every practice, every ground ball, every rep. You can see it in how he carries himself out there.
I couldn't help thinking about the parallel. The pilots who trained here went through the same thing — obsessive repetition, trusting the process, earning it. Different scale, obviously. But the same idea.
We've got maybe two more months at NAS Jax before we PCS. I'm trying to soak it in. This place has been good to us.
Any NOL families out there? Or military kids who played ball on base — would love to hear your stories in the comments.
