PCS Chronicles: The Medical Milestone

Another day, another step in the PCS checklist. If you’ve ever moved for the military, you know the process is less of a smooth transition and more of a juggling act. With our move to Yokosuka, Japan, coming up in August, we’re officially in the "medical readiness" phase of the operation.

Today was all about getting those required immunizations knocked out. It’s funny—you spend so much time worrying about the big logistical hurdles like long-term storage or shipping our household goods, but then you find yourself sitting in a clinic waiting room, double-checking your paperwork for the tenth time.

I snapped this photo while getting my shots today. It’s a pretty classic "military life" snapshot: a sterile room, a pair of gloves, and the inevitable reminder that we’re really, truly heading overseas.

It’s definitely a bit of a whirlwind with the move-out date set for August 1st and everything else going on, but getting these medical requirements cleared feels like a major weight off my shoulders. One more box checked, and one step closer to getting our family settled in Japan.

Now, if I could just find a way to make the packing as painless as a quick shot!
